Aurora
Aurora Aksnes, born June 15 1995 in Stavanger and known professionally as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase in the form of AURORA is an Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves has been released by Decca Records and was well welcomed by blogs about music. She has recorded several high-profile songs as covers, like Half the World Away (by Oasis), from the group Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) and have been widely praised. The singer gained further attention from a post by Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the song Runaway. Make it a special day. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano in her loft, and becoming intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to play music only for fun or as a means of growth but rather, she was encouraged to take it seriously. She began to write with her own music. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an appreciation for the style of Bjork. When her mother said that her songs could not only help her gain fame, and also inspire others to see their value in the world and realize what can be done with them, she decided to begin playing in front of the public. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six, and began making music when she was 9 years old. Her family didn't be aware until fourteen. Aurora's accomplishments were never her goal. Her sole passion is writing music. She claims that music is her preferred method of feeling something.
