Aurora
Aurora Aksnes (born June 15 1995, in Stavanger) is a Norwegian musician and vocalist. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released through Decca Records Decca Records in May 2015 getting great reviews from music bloggers and the media. Half the World Away - by the Oasis - for John Lewis' Christmas ad as well as Nature Boy - by Nat King Cole have already been two notable covers that she has recorded. Katy Perry's praise for her track Runaway in a blog post gave the artist some additional acknowledgement. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding a piano hidden in her attic, then becoming enthralled by the sounds it produced. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as an occupation or pastime but to grow. For this reason she wrote her first new compositions. Her influences include renowned writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love for Bjork's style. She began performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mom suggested they might help others not to gain fame with her work, but instead help people see around them realize the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. When she was six she started playing the piano, and when she was nine was writing music. This was not known to her family until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. Her only passion is to write music. She says that music is her most preferred way of feeling something.
